Our Team

Borja is the Managing Partner of Phoenician Resources and a member of the Investment Committee. Borja oversees all functions of Phoenician Resources.

Prior to co-founding Phoenician, Borja was a Director of ZBI Ventures (“ZBIV”), the energy-focused private equity arm of Ziff Brothers Investments. While at ZBIV, Borja sourced, reviewed, structured and executed investments in the E&P, biofuels and oilfield services sectors, oversaw portfolio companies and managed a variety of exits and follow-on financing rounds.

Prior to joining ZBIV in 2008, Borja was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, the global consultancy, in the New York office, where he was a member of the Corporate Finance, Global Energy and Materials and Electric Power & Natural Gas Practices. He advised leading-energy focused private equity funds and companies in matters from strategy to deal execution, in multiple energy sectors, particularly oil and gas, power generation and biofuels. Borja started his career in the Investment Banking Division of Salomon Smith Barney.  

Borja received a B.S. from CUNEF in Madrid and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
